generate!_lab Festival for Electronic Arts
generate! deals with current tendencies in art, which are determined by interdisciplinary use of electronic media or the use of digital technologies. generate! is interested in mutual relations between art, science and technology in front of their socio-political background. Particular attention is paid to conceptual work dedicated to reflection on generative processes, their conditions and their respective algorithmically controlled outputs.
generate! as an overarching programmatic title implies both artistic-technical processes of creation as well as the individual question of the possibilities to become creatively active themselves. The aim is to create a creative and critical discourse framework on the aesthetic, socio-political and economic conditions and implications of 21st century media and information technologies. generate! It seeks to explore and shape ways and forms of aesthetic practice that promote and facilitate a critical and self-determined participation in these developments.
The fourth edition of the generate! festival - following the biennial rhythm - presents itself for the second time as generate!_lab in an experimental live format, which is primarily dedicated to a performance and workshop program.
The team of generate!_lab 2018 is pleased about the close collaboration with the Institute for theatrical Futurology(ITZ) in the Zimmertheater Tübingen, the FabLab Neckar-Alb e.V., the Querfeldein e.V. and the Pixel - Medienwerkstatt of the Universitätsstadt Tübingen.
